A discussion with Françoise B. Cromer Ph. D.:
Activism around Black American women's maternal health justice has gained significant visibility, especially since 2020, with increased multimedia coverage. This workshop will explore maternal mortality and morbidity, the current status of national and state maternal health policy recommendations, and examine the impacts of resistance to the growing Black maternal health crisis. It will conclude by discussing the lessons to be learned in this politically divided time, asking the question both in the United States and globally: What are the lessons to be learned at this political juncture of extreme ideological divide in order to move forward together towards healing and peace?
